VZ58 Tailhook Project
« on: May 13, 2017, 02:28:54 PM »
This was a pistol made into a rifle with an extended barrel, never fired. I tried selling it but since there were no buyers, it then will be used and is now back to a pistol configuration. I ordered an OEM folding stock and another Tailhook brace with the intent of doing something similar to the P26 I Tailhooked. Will post when done.

In the meantime, here's the VZ58 with a folding Vector brace, suppressed and not

Not sure of the NFA legalities, but can it be turned back into a pistol after having been made into a rifle without getting an SBR stamp?

I know you can go from pistol to rifle without going through the process, but going from rifle to pistol is supposedly a big NO NO without a stamp.

It was never a SBR. Went from pistol to full 16" barreled rifle with the welded extension and 922r compliant parts. Then from a rifle (not a SBR) to a pistol (again not a SBR) with a brace with the removal of the welded barrel extension. So no no no.  :)

I did check....if it was never registered or transferred as a rifle, then conversion and reconversion is ok. Once it is registered or transferred as a rifle then it has to stay a rifle unless you file a Form one to SBR. Once a rifle always a rifle rule.

If it starts as a pistol it can return to a pistol by adding and removing parts -- but has to be either a legal rifle or pistol per BATF Definions, otherwise needs registered as SBR/AOW/etc.
If it starts as a rifle, it can never be a pistol but can become an SBR.

First iteration.....had to borrow Tailhook from P26 as who knows when the next batch will ship. Needs finishing but it works. Will do the same for the OEM metal folding stock as soon as it gets here.

Will try that later, was hesitant as the dots tend to wash out the further they are from my eyes. Thanks.

Done. Tailhooked with OEM folding stock. Need some cleaning and refinishing but it works.
