P09 Oversized Safety - The Thumb Safety CZ should have made!

I got tired of missing the safety as I brought the P09 up to target from the holster so decided to make one up using plastic and J-B Weld.

I drilled 2 small holes through the factory left safety to reinforce the plastic extension with 2 small pins made out of nails. J-B welded in place and then shaped the plastic add on to fit.  Plastic piece came from a leftover Teklock belt positioner (another piece can be seen on the bench block).  The combination of JB and pins made this oversized safety solid!

Take out the safety and in the decocker.....problem solved.  Unless your a cocked and locked guy, and only like SA

I used this in 3 gun and didn't want to start from a double action condition

It is a most needed piece and I cannot believe factory or vendor?
 never designed an oversize safety.

Just had a thought with using a nail as pins, try using a ring nail, the J-B Weld will grip on it  better than a smooth nail. Just a thought.

Does your safety actually work with the race hammer?  I screwed up 2 safeties trying to fit them to work.  No luck.  CGW said to just put the decocker in, so we did.

I'd much prefer a SAO P09 with a safety, but it doesn't look like it's doable.

I too have always thought aftermarket extended safety's should have been made. I don't like the flat style they use.

I had to fit both old and new safety in order for it to function.  Stuart had a tip a while back on how to fit that piece with a small file.
