I usually take two; one defensive gun and one just for fun gun.
First I start with Defensive practice with one gun. That could be a shorty shotgun, a CZ DA/SA, or my pocket carry DAO Sig 290rs This is about putting rounds on target(s) quickly. I keep logs for every gun so I keep track of round counts and what ammo works best, mark notes on targets, etc.
So, after I do my 'homework' I shoot one gun for Fun; and that fun gun could be anything from a 22 plinker, to a Ruger S&W or Buckmark shooting 22 HV with optics; to a 1911 RO in 45 to a S&W 627-5 8shot wheel-gun in 357.
I always like to leave the range with a grin.
