If I only needed one pistol, I'd have only one pistol... I usually take 2 to the range depending on what caliber I want to shoot.

I bet if you offered  him to shoot one he would have accepted. Oh Sorry, NO. Cant break your rule.

I generally have more than 5 pistols and enough ammo (easily 500 to 1000 in 9&45 each) for each caliber. and those would be 380, 9mm, 45 acp, 38 Super and 22LR.  Range day for me is 3-8hrs at my outdoor. Last Friday I had some testing on a new build with a variety of reloaded ammo. Learned some things for that pistol and fixed something there. Spent a couple hours talking out of the 6.5 hours that day. Casually shooting, not worrying if my time was up. Storm blew in and packed up. Spent another hour till dark talking to the RO on the last shift about Club happenings. Thin I shot 2 (16rnd) mags in the P01 at the end and the rest of the time was on my 2 officers 3.5in in 9mm and 45 ACP. Filled a coffee can of brass in the end. I don't know... 700+ and about 60/40 9 and 45.

I never shoot only one. If perfecting only one gun is your goal, standing at a table shooting it at a single target is not the way to practice. If I am alone I will use more than one stand for targets at different distances.
Sorry, had to remove the list of firearms due to server overload. I hope you now have a more pleasant experience on this forum.

I took three yesterday.  Started off with the dirty worn out Kadet and shot 120 rounds, resulting in one clean 100-5x and a nearly clean 99-5x timed fire targets.  So I kept shooting it.  I was shooting so well that I figured I could handle the P-10C so I got it out.  Hadn't shot it single hand standing in a month.  Bad mistake.  Open sights and a 4.5 lb trigger after two boxes of ammo through a 3 lb match gun trigger pistol with a red dot.  Struggled with the plastic gun.  Decided that shooting the .45 after the P-10C would be a waste of ammo, time, and nerves, so I packed up and went home.

If I don't bring 3 I feel like I've wasted a trip.  At the very least there's one I want to practice with, and at least a couple I want to make sure will actually feed and cycle correctly.

I tend to bring 2 a primary and a secondary ... primary guns will be the gun chosen for the upcoming match. A secondary in case of a breakdown, trigger time is important even if it's not your primary gun. Why kill a range trip you can still practice and if the primary can't be fixed your going to need to run the backup anyway if it's allowed.

I took 5.5 today. The half counts for the P-09 but I only shot the Kadet kit. I also put some rounds through my SP-01 compact, a new Ruger LCP II, an old Spanish .32 auto, and a Taurus 24/7 G2 that I had just gotten back from warranty service. I was just test firing the G2 with the intent to sell it. However, unlike my first couple trips to the range it performed flawlessly. My 15 y/o wants me to keep it for him and I kind of like shooting it more than I thought I would. It also made for a good field stripping/cleaning tutorial for my son afterwards.
