My newest Dan: the elusive 738P Lil' Dan
« on: June 06, 2017, 10:19:53 AM »
I met a guy to buy his Ruger GP100 Canadian 3", 1/2 lug and he said he had a Lil' Dan 738P. I told him to bring that along as well, primarily since I had never actually seen one other than pictures, and I thought it might be a good addition to my collection if we could make a deal. Well, he was dealing and I ended up with both. I read some articles by folks who question whether any Lil' Dan's were ever actually in production but it's my understanding that they made just under 2,000 of them. The gun was exceptionally dirty when I got it but I detail stripped it, cleaned, polished every single part that rubbed another part except for the sear, & lubed it (it was full of pocket lint) and shot a few rounds at the range. It handles .38 spcl +p's exceptionally well, which really surprised me for such a small revolver. I can't decide if I'm going to keep it or sell it but it's really growing on me.
