What full auto should I rent?
« on: June 27, 2017, 01:21:28 AM »
I'm going to Houston this week, and I am planning on renting a full auto (maybe two) to shoot.

The range has:

And they just got these two in:
H&K G36C
FN SCAR16 CQC

Another range has this stuff:

I'm leaning towards the 5.56 rifles, but they're pretty commonplace I imagine. The 9mm MP5 and Kriss Vector for some reason are calling out to me too :| Anyone ever shot one of these before? Anything I must shoot?

All personal preference, but unless u have loads of discretionary funds I would stick with 9mm. Ur gonna burn a lot of ammo in 30 to 60 minutes of range time

G36 or MP 5

Sten or Thompson

I don't plan on spending the full range time there. I may rent the CZ P09 since I've been wanting to shoot one of those for a while, but I might rent the P10C at the second range too if I decide to go there.

I need to find out how much ammo reloads are. They said 15 for 9mm, 20 for .45, 5.56, and 7.62. So not much difference. It might be per mag though which makes it very expensive. I remember they would preload the mags rather than having me reload them myself.

Go old school....Sten, Thompson. MAC-10 to be like The Duke in McQ...well, sort as I think his was .45 ACP suppressed. I've shot the sporterized (HK243) version of the G36 and found it lacking in ergos and overall feel (subjective). Enjoy!

Hahha. Unfortunately at 35 per rental, that's simply something I can't afford.

I've never been a fan of the G36, but it's definitely a unique gun so I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Never handled one before other than an airsoft version.

They have a nice deal for renting multiple guns, but it's a 2 person deal, and I think I'm going alone :(

I'd go with the Thompson - so much history there.  If I was shooting 2, I'd go with the MP5.

Ahh right. I keep forgetting SBR is also a Class 3... Everything else on the list was a full auto :P

Okay, so MP5 and Thompson are the leaders. Guess I'll have to save the rifles for another time!

If it was me, id do the uzi or the p90 only of full auto.  The Mac has a high rate of fire so it will burn through ammo.  The sten and the stemple are meh.  The AK would be amother option.

MP5 and M4 or M16 if the M4 is not Full Auto.  After you shoot one you are really going to want one bad.  You might need a support group.

Got it. I think I'll try for the MP5 and see what full auto they have as the free rental of the day :)

No worries about wanting a full auto :P My focus is purely on USPSA right now. I don't even have a rifle or shotgun heh.

P90 or MP5. Think Star Gate SG1.
