CZ-97 Glossy blue?
« on: July 05, 2017, 04:51:46 PM »
Can anyone tell me the ups and downs of this CZ? How is the finish and how do you identify it against a normal one (assuming the finish doesn't give it away)?

Also were they rare? I'm looking to make this my next CZ purchase if I can find one.

I don't think they have made the 97 in that finish for a few years now and Blued finishes are easy to pick out. While I personally think Bluing is a beautiful finish on a gun it is not very durable and begins to show wear pretty quickly with handling and normal use. The 97 is a superb gun though and I would not pass up on a Blued one if I ran across it.

Easy, it has a shine and isn't quite black. You can tell it doesn't have a coating. Polycoat looks more dull and usually has some texture to it.

In person, yea it would be simple to tell the difference. I was more less wondering about online photos. A lot of the pictures I see could go either way IMO.

Might not be the best pic...blued on bottom...coated on top.  Also, the blued don't have grips at the front of the slide.

And then again, maybe I'm not totally correct about that.

If I remember correctly, I was told that mine was one of the last blued, but I'll have to try to dig that up. That's not why I bought it. I bought it because it's a 45... and it's gorgeous. LOL

I got my blued "E" model from CGW in September '13. I had David convert to SA. Best pistol I have ever owned, and I've probably owned 50 or 60 different various pistols over the years.
