BBI 125's and WSF
« on: June 30, 2017, 07:13:25 AM »
I'm looking for experiences and opinions on this combination.  124g Precision Delta RN and WSF has been my chosen combination for years.  I have had no issues with this load ever, but I recently found a supplier within an hour drive for BBI. This would allow me to pick up orders in person and pay cash (just a personal preference) and my mailman would also appreciate it.

I do not shoot competition, but do enjoy informal group outings that involve USPSA type contests.  These will be shot from the following:
CZ SP 01
CZ PCR
CZ P07
CZ P09
CZ 75BD

I would like to stay with WSF if possible, due to the quantity I have on hand.

Thanks for any input you may have with this combination.

Matt

I haven't shot those two together, but I have shot plenty of BBI 125 and a little bit of WSF.  You have a great bullet with an agreeable, forgiving, accurate powder.  So while I can't say I've used this combo, I suspect you'll be quite happy. ;)

YOU need to check your maximum OAL with that bullet in your barrel(s) and load to an appropriate OAL based on that.  With other 125gr coated lead bullets and WSF, I have found the sweet spot for 9mm minor to be in the range of 4.4/4.5/4.6gr.  Run a ladder from 4.2 to 4.6 and test for accuracy. ;)

I have other powders on hand, I just have more WSF because this is what I use with the 124 PD's.   I have 11 lbs of HP38 and smaller quantities of WST, Blue Dot, AA #2, AA#5, and 2 lonely unopened lbs of 7625.  I hate to even start anything with the 7625 for obvious reasons.  If the majority thinks I can find an acceptable load for my purposes using WSF, then that would be my preference.

Thanks,
Matt

Not meaning to be a smart aleck here, but why would you be worried?

Love WSF, but mainly with 147gr like the SNS NLGs I use regularly.  Have loaded the SNS 125 NLG coated over WSF at 4.5 and 4.6 gr but have not shot/Chronoed yet. Thinking there was a thread a while back with IDescribe talking about this, but maybe that was 231/HP-38. Personally prefer the PD 124 JHP over 231/HP-38 but again have not chronoed the WSF load. Expecting it to work fine.  I test everything from a P-07 but haven't been to my outdoor range in a while with the chrono. 231/HP-38 and WSF are go-to 9mm powders for me. Like you, I have lots of WSF. Shouldn't be without it. Meters great, burns clean enough. Good luck.
