Removing rear sight on P01
« on: July 16, 2017, 11:16:38 AM »
Help!  Can't get the rear sight to budge on a new P01. I've used the search but no help. I really don't want to spend the money for a gunsmith to do it so thought I'd ask if anybody has any new tricks. Thanks

Put it in a padded vise and using a large steel or brass punch knock the hell out of it. They are sometimes hard to move but if you use a big enough hammer you will get it off. That is about all you can do.

Thanks I'll try that. I've got it in a wheeler block but can't get a good 90 degree strike on it because the sight is angled. Got it soaking in WD40 right now to see if that helps.

These are not really expensive and the work great on the rear sights.  The name is VISM.  Just be sure to oil up the threads when/if you get it and run the adjustment screws all the way in/out.  After that they move just fine.  I've used it on several CZ's so far.  I see them on sale for as low as $45 sometimes.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.  So, if you see me walking the dogs with my SIG 556R, its okay.
