It is hot and humid out here today...something not quite right with the pistol...or maybe the shooter...

Here's the sum of the 100 shots.  Had problems breaking my wrist and not keeping the recoil down.  Obviously I wasn't really pulling the trigger straight back today

Are you aiming 6 o'clock or center of target?
Is you hand as high on the grip as it goes? Where are the thumbs? Can you take a picture of your hold and trigger finger position from the left side?
The consistency is almost there, but hold may correct the elevation errors.

This has always been a 6 o'clock POA pistol.  My two handed grip is usually very good.  Yes, I tuck up under the beaver tail tightly and both thumbs point down the barrel with my right thumb over my left thumb.  There are shots off to the left at first.  I remember putting more pressure on with my left hand to correct that.  Maybe I started to force the shots up with that extra pressure?

the 75B  hasn't been fired since February '16 and I don't remember the last time it was cleaned.  I really need to break it down, give it a good cleaning, and lube it correctly.  Then I'll head back to the range with it and try some shots from a hand rest first and see how it goes. 

It's also got the 10X CGW bushing so I don't think the barrel lock up is a problem.

Brought the pistol back out today.  Freshly cleaned and lubed.  Saw basically the same results.  I'm thinking my sights are set for more like10 yds and are too high for 25 yds.  Have to measure the front sight and compare that to the distance my shots are off to see if there is any room for improvement there.

In the two years I've had this pistol there have been 5,500 rds shot through it.  The front sight is .150".  So it is set up more for 10 yard shooting. 

Based on Dawson Precision's site I'll need a .170" to better hit the bullseye at 25 yards.  Luckily, I have a .170" in my parts stash.  Just have to find time to swap out front sights and see if I get on target better at 25 yards.

Or maybe I just wait for CGW to get their adjustable rear sight ready for sale and try that instead...

.170" sight is now in place.  Looks like I'm having trouble with my grip on this pistol today.


Tightened up on my grip some.


Tried four different weights of ammo...apparently lost my grip...and then found it again along the way.






After finally having some luck with the S&B 115g JHP I did raise my POA up to the top of the 9 ring to get some shooting satisfaction.

JMHO: That 1.7 front may be a skosh too tall.  Avg shots are below center.  1.5 to 1.7 is a fairly big change. 
I suggest sticking with the 25 yard  targets for zeroing in.  Deviations at 10 yards will be 2/5th as large if your grip and sight picture are exactly the same.
Example: With a 25 yard group patterns avg. 1 1/4" high,  the 10 yard group avg.will be  a 1/4" high. 
Centered group patterns at 25 yrds will be centered groups at 10 yards.

Switching from 115gr bullets to 124gr will also raise the POI some.

Yes, based on the results the .170" front sight is too tall. 

May have to try pushing the rear sight over a bit also.

Since the JHP's did the best so far I do have some other JHP's that I'm going to have to try.  May have to order some of Joe's AA 9mm JHP's to try out.

UPDATE: After looking closer at the front sight tonight, I could tell there was a gap between the top of the rail and the underside of the back of the sight.  Well, that gap was .010" tall.  So my .170" sight was really aiming at a .180" height.  No wonder I was having problems shooting low. 

After some sanding down of the very base of the sight I'm now really sitting at .170" above the slide.  Now to find some time to see how my POA/POI impact is at that height. 

Judging by eye, it looks like I could probably sand off some more of the sight and get down to .165" or so without having to redrill the sight for the sight/bushing pin to fit.

This is the sum total of all 120 shots today.  I think I still have to shave the sight down just a little more.  I'm not really sure if I need to move the rear sight but just a tiny bit...if at all.  Looks like I can't consider the S&B 115g FMJ to be match ammo...fine for basic function practice...but not for accuracy training.

S&B 115gr FMJ is inexpensive reasonable accurate rounds, better then most of the shelf. Very few (expensive) mass produced ammo can be called true match accurate.
This was forced me to reload when I started recently shoot bullseye competitively. I have refused reloading for very long time shooting mostly 22 to avoid it. Either reload or spend a fortune on something like AA elite match grade ammo. Reloading is cheaper for the volume i shoot in training and my custom made ammo works very well in my specific barrel with all the properties i want.
If you questioning the ammo quality, start collecting and saving your brass!
