557 magazine feeding isssues
« on: August 06, 2017, 10:51:40 PM »
I have a CZ 557 UCS with the detachable 10 rd magazine. I'm not sure if it's the magazine, or the mag release dimensions, but recoil causes the magazine to fall lower in the magwell after each shot. This causes the bolt to not want to pick up the next round, and or causing jams. I have to tap the mag up into the magwell after every shot. Anyone ran across this?

That's different, no, never had that one. Contact CZ-USA, as that is something I'd want fixed.  :o

They ended up sending me a new magazine after sending mine in. Going to shoot it hopefully soon.

New mag helped, but front of mag still wants to angle down during recoil. The magwell/trigger housing has a locating pin that has busted off somehow and the screws were loose. Contacting CZ again to see what they want to try next..

Looks like this had the same issues as the one of the members of TTAG had, the stock was not properly inlet. CZ repair notes that they replaced the stock and magazine and test fired good. They also told me not to put blue loctite on the action screws, but perhaps they came loose because of the stock issue in the first place. I put 20 rounds through it yesterday, and it's feeding has improved 10x. Going to shoot it more today..

I was interested in this very rifle now I am debating on it. How is it for accuracy?

Thanks for reporting back! Still working well, and yes, I'm interested in the accuracy, too.

I have only started to test accuracy, but it does not like 150gr surplus. I've only been able to keep 2-2.5 MOA at 100 yards.  Now I did use some LR M118 (175gr) and from a bench and rest, did 1" with 5 shot group. I am not the greatest shot in the world. I have some other 175gr stuff to test..
