This weekend when we were at home my mom gave me a piece (big) of brass my grandpa brought back from WW1.
It was emptied of projectile and powder and then engraved on both sides.
One side says: ARMY OF OCCUPATION
RHINE
1919
The other side says: S. C. CALE
Co B 6 ENGR'S
ST MIHIEL ARGONNE
1918
The headstamp on the bottom of the case (I was told on another forum) says the brass was made in 1917.
Something you don't see every day and it's 100 years old now, too.
I'm trying to decide whether to shine it up, or just leave it with all those years of tarnish on it.
