Is there a preference between a 2014 or 2017 Rami 2075?
« on: August 09, 2017, 04:41:39 AM »
I was presented a with a choice to purchase a 2014 or brand new Rami 2075. Both items are in new condition. The only difference I can notice is the barrel on the '14 is stainless steel compared to the barrel on the '17 being blued. The '14 is slightly cheaper, can anyone share any insight if there are mechanical differences between the two, and is the stainless steel barrel considered better quality then the blued barrel.

Welcome to the forum.
Everything I've read or heard is that the barrel is the same. It's not just the Rami, but many CZ models had the change. It's just a coating (not blueing) that they started putting on, some speculate for reducing glare, others for reducing rust. In fact the coating will wear off at the contact spots, leaving it shiny. Some guys even remove the coating.

So the only difference I know of between the two is the coating on the barrel, and the year. With that said, I'd pick whichever one had the better trigger. Good luck.

Welcome!

If you can, test out the trigger pull.  Especially, pulling slowly in SA.

Triggers seem to be variable, I would pick the one with the least amount of camming/grittiness.

Also, look at the breach face of both for rough edges, especially at/opposite of the extractor and at the firing pin hole.

While you are at it, you can compare ejectors.  Some come from the factory with a nice smooth bevel, others are square and rough.

The nicest factory trigger on any of my CZ's happened to be a '14 75B. It also happened to have a nicely smoothed bevel on the extractor.

If it is a BD, I would buy the newer one so that you get 3 more years of life out of the tritium night sights.

The '14 is slightly cheaper

How much cheaper is slightly cheaper?  $50 cheaper and I'd go with the new one.  $100 cheaper and I'd go with the '14.  YMMV.

Thank you all for you replies. I purchased the '14 and will try to it out at the range later today.  It seemed to make the most sense, it appears to be like new, came with an extra cartridge and was about $120 cheaper then new. Proud to join the CZ ownership club. Thanks again for all the replies.

Was the extra cartridge the guy threw in the deal breaker?!?   ;)

All joking aside, it sounds like a good deal.  I would have done the same!

Placed a 100 rounds  today without a hiccup. It seems to be shooting very good, if any problems it is the shooter not the gun. I am new to gun ownership, this would be my second gun purchase, my first was about a month ago, (Springfield Armory, 1911 EMP 4? Lightweight Champion). In my comparison of the two, the RAMI has more kick and requires me to develop better skills in handling the gun on secondary or any following shots. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the purchase and look forward using this a lot more.

Silver ... Congrats on your RAMI.  The EMP4 is an excellent firearm as well.  Practice often and enjoy both :)
