Agreed, but:
the "push Test" is likely to seat the bullet in the short case with less case volume below the bullet  due to the it seating on the case mouth.  With many round nose bullets,  maybe not be a biggy;  but with FN or JHPs maybe so. 

The OAL would change if only a short case was used to do the test.  Getting a good OAL by knowing how that bullet fits the chamber is the biggy.  Once that's found,  load 'em all and start shooting as the above diagram shows.

Measuring all 9mm cases is definitely an O.C. disorder. O0

Agreed, and I need to know where I am at when loading for multiple guns.  If I do not know, well?
