What is your favorite DW & why?
« on: August 17, 2017, 10:17:00 PM »
Just wanting to get some talk going on DW's and what you like about yours, not just 1911's but revolvers also..........I just recently picked up a 9mm Guardian, absolutely my favorite 1911.  The guardian has the Bobtail, Alloy Frame, 70 series internals, Commander length barrel, I have changed the grips and grip screws but honestly that was just preference.  I've owned several 1911's but the Guardian just kinda has everything I wanted/needed.  Here are some others I've owned:

DW Silverback 10mm
DW Specialist  45 ACP
DW Guardian  9mm
Colt Commander  45 ACP
Colt Rail Gun  45 ACP
S&W Pro-Series 9mm

Mine is definitely my VBOB Valor Commander. Had a 5" Valor but much easier to carry the 4.25" and I shoot it better than the full size. My A2 Govt is up there too!

My Heritage is my favorite. I have a Specialist 9mm, had a V-Bob and an ECO. I can't explain it but me and the Heritage are inseparable.

I liked my CCO as it was seriously accurate and reliable but I had to let it go since the officers size grip just did not work for me at all. I will eventually pic up another DW 1911 probably a full size like the Valor or the A2 if I can find one.

Kinda my thoughts on the CCO too, that's what I liked about the Guardian.....full size grip and a 4.25" barrel, the Bobtail makes for a comfortable grip as well as makes it a bit easier to conceal.

I only have TWO (2) Dan Wessons...a 15-2 2V/6V Target in .357/.38 and a Bruin in 10 mm (long slide).

I figured if I had to add a 1911 to my collection it needed to be a 10 mm.

A regular .45 1911 would get no attention whatsoever as I have CZ97BE (CGW Enhanced).

I now have two Dan Wessons. Bought two years ago a ECO 45acp and today a Discretion 9mm. Can't wait to get to the range to shoot it.

#1 would be my 9mm V-Bob with my 38 Super Guardian running a very close second.

This reply is different.  I like a DW 44 mag revolver because it has not broken, still accurate after years  of resting and this reply may not be expected from forum posters thinking about the nice looking DW semi's. ;)

Finally got to shoot my new 9mm Guardian.......I have to say it really is a sweet shooting gun.  For its size. alloy frame....I was expecting a bit more recoil, while in fact it was just so smooth.  I also had my totally upgrade 75BD and the DW was just smoother.  The 75BD is still awesome but for pure pleasure and comfort as well as accuracy the DW is in a whole other league...in a good way  ;D

My favorite(s) are the only DW(s) that I have so far, which are my 715(s).

I don't have a Valor.  Yet.  So things can get better.  Maybe.

I like revolvers and have several.  My S&W's are favorites, and great price-performers.  But when I recently got my DW(s), they really seemed ... special.  My shooting accuracy went up another notch (from average to pretty good, which makes me feel good.  And the interchangeable barrels make me feel like I have many new guns all at once.

The only bad thing is that there are a lot of older collectible or usable DW's out there, which could lead to financial disaster.  I have been resisting some tempting options on GB so far, while trying to enjoy what I have.  But why oh why doesn't CZ make more barrels available???
If it's popular, I'm against it.

Wish there were more inputs on this DW portion of the forum......as I mentioned I've owned and shot a variety of 1911's the DW's are a really under-appreciated line of firearms.....I know folks here know this, wish the word could get out to the masses....then again maybe its best to keep it hushed-up  ;D

I currently have 2 DW revolvers - Models 14 and 15-2 with full lug barrel. Tomorrow I'm selling them both and Tuesday I'm going to pick up a Model 15 full set that we got in at work. I'm going to miss these 2 but I can't keep them all.
