Harvey vs South Texas
« on: August 24, 2017, 05:12:46 PM »
Looks like San Antonio Texas and South to the coast are going to get heavy rains from Harvey.
I'll wait until tomorrow to cancel my Practiscore sign up for our Saturday Morning match. :P  We need the rain,  but D*%$ I needed to shoot. :-\

A friend (retired Navy Lt.Commander (04)) from Corpus Christi, TX said that she was closing up her house and driving maybe 150 miles toward San Antonio, TX.

Tok,  we can,  but someone will shoot back!

DeltaGray,  Interstate 37 from the South is jammed NOW by folks coming to higher ground.  It does look really bad for the coastal areas.  I sure don't envy them

Should've posted this in the General section,  but my now cancelled match was my original concern.  Ted Bonnet,  the match director,  just sent out the cancellation. Other matches also cancelled. :P

Facebook has made it quite clear that this hurricane is going to wash away everything from Corpus Cristi to Houston, so having grown up on Florida's east coast, let me be the first to say -- you have nothing to worry about.  ;)

Looks like I may be reloading by flash light if S.A. forecasts are right. Now that's a bad situation!
Locally they are forecasting 60mph steady winds and up to 15" of rain by Monday morning.
I "shoot" on Tuesday mornings!!  >:(

1SOW, are you  in San Antonio?  I thought you were in the Houston area.

I'm in Houston, but nothings really happening here yet.  They do expect up to 20" of rain over the next 7 days if the storm lingers over us.  Probably won't be going to the Houston High Caliber Gun & Knife show this weekend at the NRG Center--I got rid of my boat about 10 years ago.

I.D. we're N.E. of S.A. between I-35 and I-10.   The heaviest rains are predicted along both these highways East of S.A.:  possibly 15". ::)

Was stationed in San Antonio many years ago. Seen my fair share of flash floods there.  Take cover and be safe to all you in the region. Prayers to those effected.
