Shipping a long gun; costs
« on: August 27, 2017, 05:06:49 PM »
What is the current cost to ship a shotgun?
Postal?
UPS?
FedEx?

Does it have to go like 2 day air?

Last time I shipped a handgun it was like $70 via UPS

Like anything it depends a bit on how far its being shipped........that said long guns via FEDEX are about $20 plus insurance which is usually about $1/$100 of insurance......plus if your using an FFL their fees....2 day is a REQUIREMENT for handguns......long-guns can be shipped Ground 3-5 day, hence the cheaper $20 rate.....hope this helps

You can send long guns through the mail - if you dare.

There are certainly plenty of restrictions depending on destination and item (in state OK, out of state only OK when FFLs are involved), but I have had a number of items shipped to me using the USPS (I do have a Type 03 (C&R) FFL). They have been reliable, although their tracking is not as good as FEDEX or UPS.

I've shipped a rifle through USPS once, and it made it where it was going without issue. Once.

long guns can go Fed Ex ground or UPS ground, or through USPS.
price will depend overall size, weight and insurance.

I shipped a shotgun earlier this year by u UPS and they damaged in shipping and was packed in case plus their shipping specs. The cost was not bad , experience was horrible. The purchaser it shipped to told that out all the guns he has shipped to him this is a frequent problem, he told me to use FedEx as he has never had an issue with them. Fed Ex is who I will use from now even if it is a little more.

I ship long guns for customers thru the USPS . Rifles and shotguns shipped USPS Retail Ground range from $25-$50. Civilians can ship ONLY long guns thru USPS. They will not accept handguns. UPS and Fed-Ex are much higher to ship thru and they will insist you ship Next Day Priority Delivery. I NEVER use them due to cost.

And a fine rifles it was.  Have used USPS several times to ship long guns and my FFL uses them all the time. My Feebay and GB feedbacks are over 5000 and I always ship USPS. Maybe 5 problems over the years.
