Hard case for a Carbine?
« on: September 28, 2017, 02:08:10 AM »
When the net doesn?t provide joy, it?s time to reach out. So, I'm after the smallest hard case that will accept the 527 Carbine and wondering what you all have come up with? I have a friend who is a cabinet maker with the skills to custom build something in wood, but if I can find a commercially-made case, I?d go that route. The rifle?s 37.4? length puts it on the cusp with the standard case sizes. Lugging around a longer case than necessary is a hassle. Finding a short case, and maybe fitting the rifle in it diagonally would be preferred. That requires accurate inside measurements, but there is a good chance of unknown quirks [and misrepresentation] leading to a purchase that ends up too small.

I have Peak Cases for my Bren and PS90.  Even if they don't have an exact one pre-made for you, I think they would be able to custom cut the interior foam to do as you describe.

The best fit option so far appears to be the Hybrid 3812 from SKB.

It isn't rigid so would be a last choice, but certainly workable.  Apparently, it has a foam skeleton so might hold its shape.  The fit would be snug but the 527 should drop in.
