Rear sight moves but the screw won't.
« on: September 06, 2017, 11:11:09 AM »
I noticed that the rear sight on my RAMI moves a bit from side to side.

When I tried to loosen, adjust and tighten the sight, I found out that the screw is frozen solid in the slide and can't be loosened.

I got out a soldering iron and applied heat to it, thinking that some sort of thread-locker had been applied to the screw when the rear sight was installed.  Unfortunately, applying heat made no difference and the screw is still frozen solid.

Any other ideas, or do I just need to return the slide to CZ and have them fix this?

Thanks

My Rami BD did the same thing it would move about an 1/8" from left to right. I drilled out the set screw with a undersize drill bit then used a 6-32 tap and a new set screw. Problem fixed sight is now solid.

I ended up using the easiest method of all.  I got a Return Authorization from CZ, and a prepaid shipping label from FedEx.  I sent it the same day and got the repaired sight back one week later.
