New P01
« on: November 01, 2017, 02:01:52 PM »
Replaced my Phantom EDC with a P01 last weekend, what a difference that size makes! You can almost forget its there. SWEET!!!!... Dead on accurate out of the box, just a fantastic gun, but man those stock sights suck.  It had quite a dose of protective gunk on it in the box too, I had to completely disassemble it, clean it, and then lube it. My Phantom, Tactical and my 97BD, none of which were shipped with that gunk on them.

Making a couple upgrades right away, ordered a set of Meprolight night sights. Made sure to get the specific sights for the P01. Then my next issue is with those rubber grips, they shoot well, but having that rubber continually rub on your shirts is bad, so I ordered a compact set of aluminum grips that look almost identical to those that came on my 97BD. I wanted to stay away from the trendy stuff.

Anyone else have any ideas as far as upgrades. I intend to keep the internals stock as it is an EDC.  Too bad they don't make a guide rod laser for these.
There is NO SUBSTITUTE for trigger time. What is cheaper for you to shoot? That equals more trigger time, because you need to be training with it, not just until you get it right, but until you can't get it wrong.

Congratulations on the new P-01. I agree the stock sights are not very good and I also changed mine out for Meprolight night sights (ML-17775). I had a local gunsmith install them for me and am well pleased with the new sights and the P-01 as a whole!

If you've decided not to change anything internally.....sight & grips are about all you can do. Just some spring upgrades would make a significant difference, but even that requires upgrading some internal items (springs: main/recoil/trigger/firing pin).......so I'd say your done...    :) good and :( bad........depending how you look at it.

You could add a Red-Dot in place of the laser.
