Need Kydex paddle holster for SP-01 Compact Steel with rail
« on: September 07, 2017, 01:03:18 PM »
I just got a new SP-01 Compact steel with rail (CZ 99021). I'd like to use it in a defensive pistol match, so I'm looking for a basic Kydex (plastic) retention holster. Fobus has a couple of models that sound like them might fit, the model FO75D and the model FOSG5. Has anyone used either of these holsters for their SP-01 Compact? The FO75D is supposed to fit the standard SP-01. I'm guessing the rail and overall thickness is the same between the full-sized and compact versions of this pistol.

That's the one I got for my wife. She uses the SP-01 Compact (CZ 99021). I will tell you right now, I don't believe the dimensions on the SP-01 and SP-01 Compact are the same. I think the SP-01 Compact must be a bit thicker because that chunky monkey is supremely tight in the holster even with the retention screw completely removed. It does work, it is just tight. Make sure you have a good belt if you get this one or you'll be pulling your pants up to your ribs when you try to draw the gun lol.

Chunky monkey is right. I never knew a pistol that size could weigh so much. I bought it for a defensive pistol match but am actually thinking it may be too heavy. I know it would soak up recoil better, but I like lighter guns that I can move fast. I'm going to test it against an alloy framed 1911 Commander that I've been shooting at the match. After that, I'll either use it at the match next weekend or probably sell it and continue with the 1911.

What's the weight difference between the SP-01 compact and full size?

I use the Comp-Tac International. It works great for IDPA matches. It holds both my SP-01 Shadow and my P-01. should be good for the SP-01 compact.

I also use these for the mag pouches.

Edit:
I understand now that the slide is wider on the steel compacts than the SP-01 and P-01's so this may not work after all.
