Omega safety won't fit
« on: September 11, 2017, 11:49:40 AM »
Greetings.

Just bought my second CZ; a P01 Omega as a potential daily carry gun.  However, I bought the Omega to carry cocked-and-locked.  Being left-handed this seemed like the correct model for me.

However, the safety doesn't seem to fit.  I've tried installing it several times-- no problem getting the decocker parts in and out.  The little spring is annoying, but eventually I get it back in place.  But the safety-- well, I forced it into position once, and had to pry the left side lever out with a screwdriver.  It's bound tightly against the sear (I think that block in the middle is the sear).  And I do mean tightly.  But I assume it's not supposed to be like that.

Should I start grinding on the safety, the sear, both, or neither?  Is there some subtlety to this installation that I am missing?  Videos seem to show other folks just popping these in, but that doesn't work for mine.

I'm not clueless; I understand the little clicker on the left side safety, and I've installed Cajun parts on the gun-- though this problem happened both before and after I put in the Cajun kit.  Same sear; same binding.

I wonder if they included the wrong safety, but I have nothing to compare it to.

The left side lever needs a small amount removed from the shaft area to function properly. Give CGW a call and they will walk you through it.

CGW did indeed help me!  Thank you for the suggestion.

It sounds like this is a common problem.  But easily fixed.

Thanks again!

Wow.  Sorry to hear you had a problem.  Mine was a breeze to change from decocker to safety.

When you get it back it would be interesting to hear how easy the switch/change is after the work is done.
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.  So, if you see me walking the dogs with my SIG 556R, its okay.

Get it back?  He told me where to file over the phone.

Took about ten minutes.  Works fine now.
