Creating a 527 FS in 7.62x39
« on: September 01, 2017, 09:21:38 PM »
I for one am flumoxed that CZ only makes the 527 FS in .223 and not in 7.62x39.  Has anyone ever tried to make one by taking a regular 7.62x39 carbine and swapping out the stock for an FS stock?

Also, why no adjustable sight (preferably tangent)?

According to the CZ website, the FS has a 20.5 inch barrel, Carbine is 18.5 inch so some work to shorten the stock would be needed at the very least.

That's what I was thinking, would be a very custom job...but would probably look very nice.

OK, so conversion is more difficult than just swapping stocks.  Who else would be interested 527 FS in 7.62x39?  What would it take to get CZ to produce it?

A LOT of people expressing interest - that might be quite a financial undertaking for the company to modify the design, but I don't know. They might make one custom - you could call 1-800-955-4486 on Monday and ask. I don't think CZ Custom does that type of work. The only guy I know who knows the CZ 527 stock is the guy who built my custom one, and he is extremely busy at his real job right now. :(

Have you shopped around to a custom stock maker? Another trick for a stock maker would be to modify and add length to the one you have. My gunsmith buddy did that to a couple of rifles, replaced broken end wood with new, so I think a wood guru might be able to fashion such a thing cheaper than buying a custom whole new stock. It wouldn't match, but it would work.
