I used to think politicians made stupid gun laws because they were stupid.  Now, I know they do it as ATTRITION.

As inexpensive as these guns are, I would trade it.

Have you thought about pinning and welding a long suppressor on the end of the barrel to make its total barrel length more than 16 inches?

In that case, how about using a Gear Head Works Tailhook pistol brace instead of a stock?

This. So what if you've already got the pistol "set up" how you want it? It'll take you 5 minutes to take whatever you have on it off & reattach to the carbine. Seems like you're trying to find the most overcomplicated way to accomplish your goal.

What about pinning and welding a shroud on the barrel just behind threads to get your 16" length. Then you can shoot with or without the can. Something like the Tactical Solution SBX barrel.

Maybe a 2-piece shroud? Like a scope sunshade?

Sorry I'm no help with specifics. I am, however, the King of Stupid and Impractical Ideas.

Don't forget the 922r kit for the rifle. (I presume you included that cost with your stock purchase)

Besides, I think 922 is technically for manufacturers.
You are the manufacturer if you're changing the configuration into something it was not when first sold. That's why you have to 922r it when you "manufacturer" a SBR from a pistol.

Supreme court ruled that you can convert a pistol into a rifle and back without changing its' classification.
What case is that? I'm usually pretty up to date on gun related SCOTUS stuff.

Thanks guys.

It'll be a while before I can completely finish it, but I'll update once I do.

I'll be honest, as long as once I get done and it's straight enough to not cause a baffle or endcap strike when I check with my silencer rod, I'll be tickled.

I'm getting excited about it.

I hate losing some of the compactness of the pistol, but I use it outdoors a lot more often than indoors anyway ;)

Im sure you have it just right.  But... there is always plan b: http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/366100400706_Carbine-Barrel-162-Evo

I'm hoping I don't need plan B.

By the time I bought a barrel and handguard, I'd be in for around $350'ish which is almost half the cost of the entire gun.  That's simply not going to happen.

Plus, I don't want to add velocity.  I'm happy with it where I'm at.  If this doesn't work, I just keep what I have and forget it.

This alternative cost about $25 plus my time.

Darn, you're right, once you add it up, you are half way to a new gun! It's almost like building a car put of a year one catalog, Ha!

I am really impressed with what you did here. You had a cool idea, and the tools and talent to make it happen. That is super cool, very respectable.

Cool. One can add up all the dollars involved in a project like this but that pales in comparison to the value of personal satisfaction (whether it works or not) - which is immeasurable! Wish I had the metal working equipment.

Very nice. A little black or bronze coating on there would look sharp.
