I think what I'll do is load some stuff up for accuracy testing, pick a couple/three of the best (different powders) and then take them home for night time shooting to try to judge muzzle flash/blast from the CZ 75 Compact (9MM) and the P07 (.40 S&W).  I can't shoot at the range I belong to at night, but I can at the home place in WV.

If I can remember, I'll try to get my brother to video it with my camera so I can have a visual record for comparison purposes.

Gotta go buy some more powder, it appears.
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.  So, if you see me walking the dogs with my SIG 556R, its okay.

I agree. And a video is going to be the best way to compare flash.

Ran across my "new" can of powder bought just before it got to hot in the garage to reload.

Titegroup.  Must have been thinking of some target loads/plinking ammo.  Up to now, most of the shooting we do is with the jacketed hollow points as we get some nice groups (everyone knows nice groups are better than, not so nice groups).

Looks like I'll still need to make a short list and get 2 or 3 more 1 lb. cans of powder to try.

Put the camera in manual exposure mode, set to where you can see a little darker image than normal BEFORE recording the shot blast, otherwise the auto exposure will kick in and you won't be able to see the difference in muzzle flash.  You may have to experiment a little with the initial exposure setting.

Of the "old school" powders in 9mm and 40S&W for indoor low light.  231 gives a quick sparkler effect, Unique is quite reasonable.  Herco is great in 40.  Bluedot is huge flash.  The Dillon powder dispenser handles the corn flake powders reasonably well.

I've got a couple cans of Herco.  It's my 140 grain LFN powder for the .40 S&W.  6.5 grains gives me the same POI/POA at 12 yds. I get with the compressed load of Blue Dot and the 135 grain Nosler hollow points.

I may have to take notes.  I hate taking notes.  I'll have the load data in the logbook but the accuracy testing prior to the flash testing might be a pain.
