Any have experience w/ a 550 Sonoran
« on: October 01, 2017, 03:56:33 PM »
Looking to purchase my first hunting rifle and since I'm a huge fan of CZ I'm thinking about buying the 550 Sonoran in 7mm but I can not find much first hand info on this rifle.  Do any of you all have any experience with this rifle?

Hi Chris,

The 550 Sonoran has a lot going for it.  The Mauser style action gives you controlled feed and it has a three position safety and good trigger.  The thing I really dislike about the gun is the Manners stock.  I think the stock is a poor choice for hunting big game at any reasonable range.  Now if you intend to shoot from a bench or do nothing but long range shooting where you can get snuggled into that stock, it might work.  If you hunt a lot of deer or maybe even Elk, you will find the Manners stock is slow to mount and the grip is just too straight.  My preference for a deer rifle is one with an open grip made for fast handling and quick shots at running game.
