Stainless Guide Rod... yes or no ?
« on: October 07, 2017, 09:57:16 PM »
I ordered a stainless steel guide rod for my PCR.  Now I'm hesitant in installing it thinking it may do more harm than good.  This fine pistol was designed with a plastic guide rod for a reason.  I feel the stainless steel rod is more aesthetics than function.
Should I be hesitant ?

Maybe so, but since you already ordered one....   I have no problem running a plastic guide rod myself.

For now I'm just keeping my SS as a backup.

That's what I'm planning on doing.

CZ USA has a coated aluminum one, I have them in my PCR and both of my PO1s.

Maybe just me but I have never had a problem with the stock rod.

I have put the DPM Recoil system in several of my CZs, and love them.

I have stainless steel guide rods in all 7 of my CZ's. My PCR has 10k rounds fired now and shows no abnormal wear from the stainless rod. Many gun manufacturers use plastic guide rods simply because they are cheap to make and they do work.
I prefer steel.

I'm running an aftermarket recoil spring in my 75 SP-01 Tac.... and the plastic guide rod is turning into a figure "S" shape.  I'm ordering up a steel one before something stupid happens.  I'll keep the plastic one for a backup.
