Stainless Steel Guide Rod Wear

I have a CZ 75 SP01 CUSTOM ACCU SHADOW MATCH 9mm and the stainless steel guide rod is getting chewed up a bit on the button end of the rod and I am wondering if this is normal. I have had some break in issues like failure to feed, jams, not going all the way into battery, things like that. I do not know if it is from that or if that is typical of the SP01. As always your opinions are greatly appreciated, thanks.

No wear.  Dirty, but no wear.  No wear on the other side either.

Yes,  a heavier recoil spring is needed to lighten the blow.  I think this suggestion came from schmecky, but I wouldn't bet my stainless rod on it.  The damage stopped after I went up a pound or two...9mm 75 Shadow Custom...had an 11# spring when delivered.

So for the cost of replacement springs, they are $6 each from Cajun Gun Works, I would buy 3 different weights and see which solves the issue.  My last order was for the 12# but your needs might be different, I am running 125 grain bullets at 130 power factor.  If you are running hotter loads you might have a different result.  And a replacement guide rod is in $22 from Cajun as well.

I run 124GR or 115GR. Currently shooting Sellier&Bellot 124GR The power factor is....  146.44
I will take your advice and get 3 different spring weights, Are the springs marked in some way as to the weights?

Yes.  CGW Springs are different colors.  They start at 14 lbs (I think) and go down to 10.  I would do 13, 12, 11.  Also here is some good info to check out.

Here's a thread I started about plastic guide rods that ultimately led to metal guide rod discussion. My wear was with a 14 lb recoil spring and metal guide rod.

Ultimately I'm using one of the thicker plastic guide rods. If for no other reason in order to be able to use lighter springs with no damage.

I compared the guide rod (plastic) from a factory TS to a TSO, SP01 and Shadow 2 and found the TS to be shorter than TSO, SP01 and Shadow. 

Can anyone confirm that stock guide rods for Tactical Sports are different length than the Orange and SP01 models?

I'll toss up some pictures of the various guide rods when I have some more time.
