P10 C - 147 gr 9mm at 875-890 fps
« on: October 10, 2017, 09:53:06 PM »
Is anyone reloading 147's at around 875 - 890 fps and having cycling issues?   My gun will be here probably next week and wonder if my 147's will work!

The craziness starts stainless guide rod and a pack of springs.

You have thoughts on where to get these items?   Cajun Gun Works?  DMP recoil reduction kit?

Cajun Gun Works should be able to supply both items.

Wolff Gunsprings can supply the springs, and is probably where CGW gets their springs.

Everything said so far is correct, if you need to make adjustments, but why are you already worried they won't work?

Also, while I don't own a P-10C (yet), I have found my 75 ShadowLine to have accuracy nodes in certain velocity ranges with different bullet weights.  And for 147gr they're up in the 920-940 range for 147 grain bullets.  Obviously, if you're citing 875-890, you're looking at 9mm minor practical shooting. I wouldn't get myself set on a certain velocity ahead of time.  I'd let the the pistol tell me what velocity I should shoot at within a reasonable range of let's say PF 130-138.

Good luck.  ;)

One reason I am worried is for the past 18 yrs I've been shooting a Glocks,  and the Gen 3 and 4 guide rod and captured recoil spring would not cycle a 147 gr bullet at 875-890 fps occasionally in my G34 thus Jager Inc with a new recoil system.  In order to make minor, your bullet is only required to travel 851 fps and most competitive shooters like myself attempt to get close to the minimum as to not beat their gun up,  quicker follow up shots and quicker target transitions.  147's have a tendency to shoot "softer" than a 115 gr bullet as I'm sure you know.  Guess the Glock 34 has me guessing about the CZ and 147's.

This is my first CZ and I really like the way it feels in my hand as compared to the new Gen 5 Glock 19.  In fact,  it wasn't a difficult decision for me and I've been a loyal Glock shooter.  But in a gun store a few days ago,  I held both guns and fingered them for several minutes and just loved the CZ P10C.  I'm anxious to see the full size CZ striker fired when it comes out.

I'm just trying to get out in front so when my gun arrives I have everything needed for the range.  I was curious if anyone had issues with 147's around 875 fps?

I would like to shoot that P75 ShadowLine at some point!

ps.  Ordered my new sights today

The truth is that we are not getting a lot of P-10C load development discussed here in this ammo forum, if any.  I don't know exactly why that is, but now that you've brought it up, I can't recall a single thread that included any real data, opinion, or assessment.  That said, it seems like every other 9mm CZ performs fine with 130+ 9mm minor loads, even if the cases aren't ejected much further than your toes.  I suspect the P-10C will be the same, but maybe you're the person that will confirm or deny that for us.  ;)

My suspicion is that they will work with the pistol in stock condition, but that you would benefit from spring tuning.  So maybe buy a pack of springs to test.

Well, welcome to CZ land !

Having tuned my SP-01 over the course of several years I can add little to what ID said....
? You might search the forum here looking for CZ P-01 & 147gr load data. The P-01 is the metal gun equivalent of the P-10c with nearly the same barrel length. That might be a good starting point.

? Not sure about the P-10c, but most other CZs come with 18# springs. The spring kit shipping weights are so low that it really doesn't make sense to order just the 14# kit. To be really prepared, go ahead and get the 16#, 14# and 12#. It's going to be the exact same shipping cost for 3, so you really don't want to order those one at a time.

Either of the sources can advise you on your stock recoil spring weight and the spring ranges most shooters are using.

Hope this helps.  ;)

My computer and loading notes are in 2 different places. Having previously owned a P-01, I'll check tomorrow to see if there's any data for you.

We are talking about a P10c here and as I recall they come sprung same as a P07 or09 with e #20 spring which is quite stiff and on a captured GR.

CGW offers a #18 and a #15 spring with a special GR, as the one on my P07 was nort designed to change springs.

FWIW, I run the #15 spring on the P07, which is the same length as the P10 and it works fine.

124gr NATO ball ammo was what they were designed for, and that will run at near 1200 fps as I recall.

I got my p-10 c about a month ago.  I started working up a hand load and I came up with one that works great.  I'm using 115gr Armscor fmj, 5.0gr Unique with CCI primers and a OAL of 1.135. I don't have my chrono at the moment, but pressure is good and accuracy is amazing.  Hope this helps some of you get started.
