Project caliber is 6mm BR Norma. This caliber use a small rifle primer and a .484 (308) boltface.

So I ordered an aftermarket bolt assembly with small firing pin hole and small firing pin. Extractor cut is for M16 mini extractor.

Comparison of the aftermarket bolt face to the stock Remington 700 bolt.

Bolt knob installed.

To install or to disassemble the firing pin assembly to the bolt, you need the KLEINENDORST - REMINGTON BOLT DISASSEMBLY TOOL.

How to use this tool.

The complete receiver is now ready for barrel, trigger and scope rail installation.

There are 2 ways to DIY install a barrel. One is a short chambered barrel and the other is a Remage barrel.
I will use the Remage barrel because it is easier to install.

For those not familiar with Remage, here is an article on the subject.

Barrel is 24",1:8 twist, 1.062" at the breech and .920" at the muzzle end. I ordered a matte finish but I was not expecting it to be this flat (gray).

Just checking the fit. Still waiting for the lug alignment tool and go gauge.

Lug alignment tool, head space Go gauge and scope rail.

BTW. The chamber neck diameter is .271 (no neck turn).

No visible space between the receiver and the scope base unlike my 2 other Remington 700. Will probably apply a thin bedding.

Video on how to install a Remage barrel.
