Cz 83 .380 barrel question
« on: December 27, 2017, 09:24:01 AM »
I've looked through the archives but have not confirmed an answer.
Is the CZ 83 .380 barrel only supposed to have polygonal rifling, or are there cross-over years where land and groove rifling was produced?
I am looking at an 83 with polygonal rifling, and am wondering if it is correct.
I'm confused. :P

CZ 83 with polygonal rifling is 9mm Makarov.
CZ 83 .380 ACP (aka 9mm Browning Court) has land and groove rifling, as well as .32 ACP (7,65 Browning).
But there were CZ 83 9mm Makarov with land and groove rifling too.

Hmm, I am being told it is a .380 (pictures show stamping on slides) with polygonal rifling.
I guess I need more info from the seller.

Polygonal rifling have all CZ 82 - army and police modell, all in 9mm Makarov - because of intended using of czechoslovak ammunition vz. 82. Same dimensions like 9mm Makarov, but sintered steel powder bullet 4,5 gram (Makarov 6,1 gram) and 400 m/s muzzle velocity (Makarov 310 m/s).
Using ammo vz.82 in land and groove rifling is VERY destructive  >:(

Are the barrel diameters for the .380, 9mm mak, and .32 the same?
Would it then be possible to put an incorrectly marked slide on any of these barrels?

Outer diameter 9mm Browning and 9mm Makarov looks identically, but 7,65mm Browning is about half milimeter less.
Critical is internal diameter of chamber and rifling - different for these nines...   O0
