CZ 75 B – Replaced Stock Sights with TruGlo TFX Pro
« on: December 30, 2017, 06:33:35 PM »
Today my TruGlo TFX Pro sights for my CZ 75 B arrived. I am a fairly handy individual so I decided that I would try my luck with replacing the stock sights with the TruGlo myself. This was my first time replacing sights on any firearm and I thought I would document my adventure as I have seen others ask about replacing sights on this forum and hopefully someone will find this useful in the future.

I started by watching this video on YouTube.

Removing The Front Sight
Removing the front sight was very straight forward. I used the 1/16 punch and removed the front sight pin with a few taps. Using the polymer end of the hammer, the front sight was easily removed with a few light taps.

Removing The Rear Sight

As can been seen from the photo below, the stock rear sight appears to have been installed from the left side and pushed to the right as you can see the finish slightly rubbed on this end. I decided to remove it from right to left.

The rear sight was much more difficult to remove when compared to the front. I started by using the bench block and the plastic punch but the rear sight was not budging. Keeping it on its side, I put some gun oil in between the rear sight and the slide and left it sit for a bit. I came back and continued to try my luck with the bench block but it wasn’t happening. Luckily I have a bench vise on my work bench, so I carefully wrapped the slide with a spare rag (looking back leather would probably of been the best choice but the rag did keep the slide protected from marks). I than covered the rear sight with a rag and sponge and used the brass punch and a real hammer to slowly remove the sight. It took some good taps but in the end, the finish on the rear sight was not marked up.

Measurements Of The Factory Front Sights

Note that these calipers are not very expensive and this was meant to get “close” measurements not scientific.

Finished Installation

Getting everything put back together was pretty easy. The front and rear sights are flush with the slide. The new sights have a much more impressive glow as well.

Reversed for Future Range Targets

Only thing left is to take this to the range! I will try and remember to take some photos.

Was able to take it to the range today. It was shooting slightly to the left so I came home and moved the rear sights over a bit.
