I've got a sporterized low number Rock Island 1903 Springfield that I bought from a guy for $100. It's in a Bishop's Superior stock. I was going to refinish the wood and steel and make it a wall hanger. Upon stripping the stock I discovered SEVERAL patchwork jobs, including a section in the rear that was built up about 1/2" with wood glue and sawdust, and a thin crack forming in the pistol grip.
I'm only out $100 on the gun, but it's really disappointing that the stock is in this bad of shape.
