Long time lurker from California
« on: February 14, 2018, 08:18:16 PM »
I recently had a tall glass of CZ look-aid and bought myself a SP01. The waiting period is killing me.

Down the road I?d like to upgrade some parts with CGW goodies. Can anyone give some pointers on which parts to start with?

Also what should be my next CZ pistol purchase? Caliber wise it has to be 9 or 45 because I reload those calibers.

Welcome from San Diego and congrats on your new purchase!

Shoot it a bit as is and you?ll get an idea on what you want to do to/with it.  Me, I like a shorter reset and smoother (but not shorter) trigger pull.  CGW gets a lot of my spending cash.

You?ll also get a sense of what you want in the next CZ?s...  ;) shorter, lighter, easier to carry, etc.  Fortunately CZ is pretty good to Californians and there are lots of good choices.

Enjoy!

Greetings from Houston! Scout around the forum - you'll find plenty of good info on upgrades. IMHO, good to get a few hundred rounds cycled through a gun before considering changes as they are likely to be determined by your preferences.

Welcome from South OC.

Try to find a 97B. I was able to find one a few months ago and I wish I had bought one sooner.

Thanks all.

The good thing about my SP01 is that it?s already broke in. I bought it used but it looks darn near new.

I?ll probably wait a few months before I start tinkering.

Is that the 45? I?ve always been a 1911 fan, but I?ll have to check one out.

Yes it is the 45.  They can be a little hard to find here since "we only make a few hundred for California each year"  I kept my eyes open and found one at a gun show.  Other than that, Turner's had some recently.

Welcome! Another CA guy here.

I agree with the "shoot it for a while first" group. If you really want to get ready for the CGW/CZC road, I'd recommend doing the polishing job on internals first, so you can smooth your pull and get familiar with the detail strip of your pistol, which you're going to have to do repeatedly to test the function of your upgrades.

If you decide to polish, I'd recommend CGWs floating trigger pin to make your life easier on future disassembles. After that, there's plenty of info on specific parts throughout the forum.

If you don't have it, get a good punch set.
