First time with new Ruger 22/45
« on: February 14, 2018, 11:16:45 PM »
Finally shot my new Ruger 22/45 lite.  The upper left and center target. The other targets were my HK vp9.  I'm near sighted and my safety glasses are not prescription, 15 yards was my max for the HK.

Your inspiring me to get out to the range with my new Mark IV 22/45 Lite, I haven't shot it yet but already got a Hi Viz front sight, Stoner G10 Grips and took the rail off and plugged the holes with 6/48 gunsmithing screws I got at my local Ace Hardware.  If mine shoots as well as yours I'll be very happy......congrats, so what did you like or not like about the 22/45?

It is GREAT, the only draw back was blacked out rear and front sights. I painted the front post bright pink which really stands OUT.

Good to know you were happy........the sights being both black I didn't care for out of the box, just from my own experience.....I kind of went all in on faith, so I'm looking forward to getting to the range.......

Nice shooting. I have a Ruger Mark III in .22 and a S&W Model 41 in .22. Don't always take them with me, but when I do, I remember how much fun they are to shoot at a fraction of the price of center fire pistols. Also get some work on trigger control.

I love the Ruger 22/45.  I have one with an Ultradot on it as a backup to my Kadet for bullseye matches.  It is definitely as accurate as the Kadet but my particular gun has intermittent feeding issues so I shoot the Kadet in matches.  But I use the Ruger for new shooters, I just take the sight off and use the irons, then put it back on and show them what they are missing without a red dot.

That's a really great idea - wish somebody would have done that for me when I started out.

Finally got to the range with this, I have to say I was very happy with the function and accuracy of the 22/45.  Shot 100rds without a single hiccup, I did need to adjust the sights but that was it and they weren't even off much, most likely it was the shooters issue  ;D
