New member from KC area
« on: March 10, 2018, 05:25:25 PM »
Hello all, I'm a new member to the forum. I live in the suburb of KC, Lee's Summit Mo. I'm retired from a major truck manufacturer and a veteran of the Army Security Agency. I grew up in the Ozarks of Arkansas and learned to hunt and fish at A early age. I've been a avid hunter all my life and hunting Bob White quail was my favorite quarry. Since the population has dwindled, I've elected to shoot mainly targets and calling wild Turkey's for friends but haven't shot one myself for several years. I am planning to go prairie dog shooting in the spring in eastern Colorado.
My introduction to CZ was thru friends and now I own 3 CZ 455's. One in .22 long rifle, one in .17 HMR and one in .204. The two rimfires have bull barrels and all three are equipped with identical 6X24 Tasco scopes.
I recently sold a Kimber Ultra Aegis and replaced it wit a CZ 75 Compact PCR. I've been to the range once with it and impressed with the performance. With a bit more practice, I hope to tighten my groups. I also replaced the rubber grips with a set of hardwood that enhances the looks quite nicely. I tried to upload a pic but it didn't cooperate for some reason.

Welcome from Texas!

I'm curious about the bull barrels on your rimfire CZs...does the extra weight help with managing/maintaining accuracy?

I can understand with higher calibers, but with small calibers I wonder if it's worth it.

I mostly shoot from a rest or tripod. The bull weighs a bit more so I don't plan on carrying them very far. I believe the extra weight adds to more accurate shooting as well as absorbing the heat. My .204 would also be a bull but I got a heck of a deal on it from a estate sell off. It has a 26 inch barrel length.
