Anyone out there have a Blackout?
« on: March 12, 2018, 07:08:35 AM »
Picked up a 300 Blackout last night and got my scope mounted today.

Now, I need some recommendations on subsonic loads for it to shoot suppressed.

Anyone have any good recipes?

I've had good luck with just about any .308 bullet from 200gr to 220gr for sub sonic.

Is your suppressor sealed or can you take it apart?  I have an Octane 9HD which I used b/c I can take it apart. I have an Omega (sealed) that is a better dedicated .30 cal can that I only shoot jacketed through, though.

If it can be disassembled for cleaning, you can shoot coated bullets the most cheaply.

1680 is a great powder for suppressed 300 BLK loads...

What is a good, cheap plinking bullet in that "grain range"?

Take apart.  It's a Liberty Mystic X.  Really like it so far, but have not been able to play with it much since it is still in "jail".

that's great, that means you can shoot lead or coated and take it apart to clean it periodically. that will save you lots if you choose to go that route (lead or coated).

Palmetto makes a pretty cheap 203 gr coated bullet for the BLK.  price depends on quantity.  Order a small quant first to test.

I hear there are some chamber issues on some 300 BLKs....and I'd rec a Sheridan slot gauge for 300 BLK but be aware your chamber may not be in spec depending on where you got your rifle.

Coated bullets in this caliber is a bit temperamental, because they are sized up a bit. You need to bell the case a bit more than you would with jacketed. Order a small quantity and carefully determine your OAL etc.

the 300BlkTalk forum is a good resource, also, taking care to corroborate all the info I gleaned there...

I have a Blackout with a 16? Saturn SS 1:8 barrel. Loaded mostly with supersonics for hog hunting, but I?ve developed a subsonic load for 220gr Nosler Custom Competition bullets and AA1680 powder. Still messing with the adjustable gas block and my can. Very accurate sub load.
