Shadow 2 SAO Conversion and Flat Trigger issue
« on: April 09, 2018, 12:16:53 AM »
I have the Shadow 2 that I converted to SAO. I took out the disconnector, polished the trigger bar, hammer and hammer strut. I installed the CGW 6SAO flat trigger and floating trigger pin.

The trigger pull is 2lbs or a little less. The issue is that there seems to still be allot of pre travel in the trigger pull. I adjusted the pre travel screw quite allot and there still seems to be allot of pre travel.

Is there a way to shorten the pre travel more?

And there seems to be no discernible reset click when releasing the trigger.

Thanks for any help!

That?s the nature of the beast when converting the Shadow 2 from DA/SA to SA only due to the geometry of the trigger and trigger bar. Don?t hesitate and just keep on adjusting the pretravel screw until you like the correct amount or lack thereof of pretravel. The reset is quite not discernable especially with the flat trigger you just installed because the reset itself is very short compare to how it was stock.

All of my SAO conversions have a very audible and tactile reset. Does the S2 use a different trigger bar than 75's and 97's?

Thanks George!

I will adjust the pre travel screw on the trigger more.

I don't have the money right now to do it but would adding a race hammer reduce pre travel?

A race hammer will reduce/eliminate creep/camming and give a crisp clean break.

If you get the race hammer, get the adjustable sear, too.

I've done three hammer replacements now.  On the first one I worked on the safety to get it to work with the new hammer and it took a good while and a lot of tries to get it right (enough metal off the lobe on the safety shaft to hold the sear in place correctly).  I used the CGW adjustable sear on the next two and was done in minutes.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Great tip on the adjustable sear! Thanks!

I just have to save some money before making any more purchases.

UPDATE

The guys at CGW helped me get this trigger dialed in correctly. I had adjusted the pretravel ass backwards. After following their advice on correctly adjusting the pretravel their is very little take up.

Trigger is about 2 lbs with no spring changes.

Thanks CGW!

I was about to ask if you were turning it the right way.  ;D

Good that you sorted it out.  I converted my Shadow 2 to SAO as well and love it like this.
