Graf's sale...Unis Ginex primers
« on: April 17, 2018, 11:46:42 AM »
Graf's is having a sale on these primers. They're used in PPU ammo, and also in many products from major reloaders in the US.

I did a bunch of searching, and other than people not seating them properly, I couldn't find any complaints save for one guy who swore he was having issues ( I don't think he knows ). Other people likened then to most major US primers, save Federal, saying they were 'maybe' a bit harder.

For the $109.99/cs for SPP, and SRP...I bought 5K of the SRP, and a 8 lb jar of H110, also on sale, to use in my M1.

I wish PV had the Ginex primers because their H110 is cheaper. With Graf's flat rate shipping and the savings on the primers I went with them.

HTH.

Doesn't H110 usually require a magnum primer ?

I hope not.

Hodgdon online data calls for CCI 400 SRP.

I just went and double checked myself.

It would take me a hundred years to use 5K SRP in my bolt action CZ 223. :P

Just my $.02, ran out of SPP's so I ran a test using WW SRP's, with 122 & 147 Hi Tec coated bullets, and Unique. At 28 yds.
I couldn't tell any difference in accuracy , the only difference was a  cleaner bore after 25 shots with the SRP.

I have no idea what my bore looks like after 25 shots.  But it's usually pretty ugly after 2500. ;)

WOW,  You go 2500 hundred rounds before you clean your pistol, if those 2500 rounds are cast or coated bullets probably not a problem.
My supply of Unique burns dirty , checking after 25 shots with SPP and again after 25 shots with SRP.

One of the reasons not too many of us use Unique, especially if you load it light.

It cleans up pretty good closer to max load.

I tried 231, tight Group, and VVN  3N-37, as well as Unique. And Unique grouped tighter groups that any of the others.
Also, I have 4, four # kegs I picked up an an estate sale.

Having 16 lbs is as good a reason as any.

What type of shooting do you do? You listed 2 relatively fast, and 2 relatively slow powders.

I load just for plinking , usually when I want to take a break from my F & F/TR rifles
I had the Unique, 231 & TG from my pistol silhouette shooting.
