Slide stop spring
« on: April 29, 2018, 05:36:23 PM »
Hello!

I was hoping for some help from you folks
..my searches have turned up nil. I have a older cz85 that came with a type R slide stop spring. I'm struggling trying to get it to seat since the firearm has been cerakoted.

Would anyone have a photo of it set up in their firearm? Maybe it's a finesse issue on my end

Thanks

I have an 85 Combat with the early spring.

I don't have a pic, but could take one.

Was the frame cerakoted on the inside?

Yes sir. Everything aside from a magazine hang up has been good.

I'm not familiar with the older type spring wire,  but IF it pops into two tiny holes that's plugged with Cerakote;  I use a wire size drill the same size as the spring and try turning it into the holes by hand.  Spinning the bit between finger and thumb might remove the Cerakote in the holes with no other damage.   ???

You don't have to call me sir. Every time I hear that I quickly look over my shoulder to see if my dad is standing behind me...and he's been dead for almost 6 years. Hurts my neck. ;D

I'll take a pic for you in the morning. ;)

Is this what you're asking about?

The spring goes into a hole in the frame to the rear and goes under a pin to the front that has a notch in it (lets the spring tension hold the pin in the frame.)

Finding the pin hole up front should be easy.  You might have to clean it out to get the pin the frame.  I don't recall having any issues with mine after cerakoting.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Thanks for the frame photo! It would appear mine pre dates yours.. No holes on mine.

Part #3

Appears it just needs to be pushed down hard enough to get the retaining pin with a groove to clear. Suppose I need more spinach.

As long as that pin will insert,  it appears compressing the spring "while aligned" and insertinthe pin is the procedure.
You might be able to adapt/use a clamp to compress the spring if it leaves room to insert the pin. :-\

Will the spring fit up into the groove in the frame without putting the other end into the hole?  Just a quick check on whether or not the cerakote build up might be affecting the fit at that point.  If it will go up in the groove that's great.  Not and issue.

The next thing to check would be if the other end of the spring will go down in the hole without interference.

Then check the grooved pin to see if it fits in the frame.

Once you're sure all the parts fit where they should be, then it's time to install the parts together.

Pardon the .22 grunge.

That's it painter! I assume the pin coming from the right side of the frame rides over top of the lowest part of the spring.

Has to be cerakote over spray causing the issue.

Thanks guys really appreciate the help.
