Cz 223 carbine
« on: May 08, 2018, 08:04:33 AM »
Wish it would shoot lighter bullets 64 grain bullets no good. 68 grain bullets tack drivers at 200yds . 55 grains of no no looks like a shotgun pattern at a hundred yards. The 68 grain are match though and the rest was bulk ammo would match 55 and 64 grain ammo shoot better thanks

Match loads will almost always shoot better than bulk ammunition.  They are held to tighter tolerances and made of better components.  Bulk ammo that is rattling around and banging into each other won't be as accurate.  Most match ammunition is hollow point, which shifts the center of gravity towards the rear of the bullet, aiding in stability.  With the 1/9 twist, you should have no issues with quality 55 grain bullets, and even light bullets, such as a 52 gr Sierra Matchking or 52 grain ELD bullet.

That seems strange for 1:9 twist.  Has anyone else had that issue?

The 55 grain is the "Bulk" ammo he was referring to.  Although some swear by it, I've never had very good luck with some of the military style M855 or other bulk ammo that is cheap and plentiful.

...is there match 55 grain...

Hornady loads their 55 grain match bullet in two loads: American Gunner (80237) and Frontier (FR140).  They also run it in their Steel Match ammo, but I don't run steel cased ammo in any of my guns.  While not a "Match" bullet, I would also recommend the Federal Premium 55 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip (P223F).

Are you a reloader by chance?  Factory offerings in Match ammunition are good, but you can do even better with reloading.  As an added benefit, reloading rifle ammunition will be much less expensive than factory offerings.

So y'all saying a match-grade 64 grain ammo we'll shoot better than $11 box 64 grain

Not always, but usually it will.  You will only know what shoots best by running it in your gun.  Every gun will be different.
