A bipod for CZ 527
« on: June 05, 2018, 07:29:26 PM »
What would be the best bipod for my CZ 527 7.62x39 carbine? I want it to not interfere with my iron sights.

Wow...  Best...  That is going to be completely subjective.
I don't know that anyone is going to reply and tell you that this or that bipod is "best".  Only that a particular bipod worked well for them.

The reason I clicked on this thread is because I'm interested in the same thing.  However, my rifle is scoped, so I'm not worried about interfering with the iron sights.  I would prefer bipod that works well, is well made and at the middle of the road in cost.

I have never in my life owned a rifle with a bipod. Interested to hear others opinions.

I have a pivoting Caldwell XLA 6-9" bipod I use on several guns, one of which is my 527M.  It's essentially a knockoff of the Harris design and that height is good for bench or prone shooting.  If I step up to a bipod for the seated position I'll likely buy a taller Harris since the build quality is somewhat better.  The Caldwell is more "value" priced but has done well for me.

I also have a Champion branded 6-9" bipod that came as part of a package deal with a rifle/scope/rail/rings combo I got at a big box.  Again, a Harris clone but I'm not impressed with this one and have rarely used it.  Tedious to adjust the height and harder to get solidly locked in.  Both these bipods mount to the sling stud so there is no interference with the sights.

If I ever have to replace the Caldwell it will be a Harris as they're somewhat of a standard.  Buy once, cry once as it were.

I have a Harris that works well. Easy switch between my .22, .17, and my .204. All CZ.

Here's a Harris on my 527.

Hey, is that a Euro Varmint? If so, can you please PM me with details. I have it next on my list but have yet to talk to anyone who has it.
