Dawson front sight height?
« on: July 17, 2018, 11:40:20 PM »
I want to shoot a USPSA match with my P-10c and would like a fiber optic front sight.  I don't plan on this being a regular match gun for me so I just want to order a front sight that will work with the factory rear night sight.  Which height from the attached list would work?

I'd suggest you measure the front sight on your gun, shoot it to check poa / poi
and use Dawson's sight calculator.
Of the sights you listed, I'd guess it would be .130 - .155,
to me a .125 would be a little wide with a stock rear, but everybody's different.
There's a fair amount of info on this forum if you search.

I didn't even know Dawson had the calculator.  That's a huge help.  Thanks!!

I have the orange ringed fron night sight.  It measures .136" high from the top of the slide and is .125" wide in case anyone else is looking for dimensions.

The front of your sight should have a number stamped on it, usually a 2 or 3.

#2 = 5.5mm
#3 = 5.75mm

The CZ measurement is the total height of the sight including the dovetail (.070" deep). Dawson dimensions are the height of the sight blade above the slide.  Actual height will vary depending on dovetail fit but this should get you close.

#2 = .147"
#3 = .156"

I have a #2 front sight.  Measuring it with three different calipers and its .136" from top of slide.  I'm going to remove it a measure the overall height but right now I'm thinking .130" as the pistol shoots a hair low for me now.
