Glad you were able to figure it out. If my experiment with the stock disco and my modified trigger doesn?t pan out, I?ll order a new T1 or T3 disco and try your way and see how it?ll turn out.
Just curious how far does the hammer go back before the DA shot breaks?
I went a bit too far with the T1 disco and the hammer breaks a mm or so before the single action. Should still be fine for ignition with an extended firing pin, but I didn't the extra 'post-slack' after the DA break. I did the same with the disco in the Shadow 2 RRkit and also was able to bring the DA break a little earlier, maybe slightly before the SA break. So the post-travel screw does come into play now, but the break is still quite far back compared to my Shadow 1 with the thicker 85C 'old style' trigger.
I think short of an actual pro trigger job by CGW or CZC, this is the best DA/SA I'm going to get on my Shadow 2. The DA pull is definitely lighter with a 13# hammer spring than even my Shadow 1 with a 12# hammer spring, and because of the position of the disco's lug/wing, the DA resistance starts farther back which is the whole point of it....making the DA pull shorter (still not using the pre-travel screw because of so little threading). But I still like the overall feel of the Shadow 1 better in DA, I'm more stable during the long pull, and I like that the SA break is a bit farther forward. Can't really change that about the Shadow 2 with its sear/hammer geometry, but maybe if I try the thicker 85C 'original' trigger it might put some length back.
So I've made a decision to stick with SAO on my Shadow 2 and put back the Armory Craft trigger. I just like that particular gun better that way. Relegates me to Limited Minor, but I can also put a .40 TS Slide on it that I got a few months back and shoot it Limited Major if I want. But there's plenty of other types of shooting I can do with the S2 in SAO and it does great, like plates/steel and other outlaw type matches.
edit: obviously, with the shorter 'throw' of the DA that starts farther back on the RRK, the trigger probably needs to be pulled farther back to get enough hammer/spring power for reliable ignition. But with the extended firing pin and spring, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Figure with a 13# hammer spring with its somewhat shortened hammer fall, it's sort of the equivalent of an 11.5# or even a 10# hammer spring at 'full' hammer fall....which, with the extended firing pin, should still be fine depending on primers. i.e...I won't be firing Winchester ammo out of this gun (Shadow 2) if I keep it DA/SA. I did test it with factory ammo from Remington, S&B (Cabela's 'Herters' brand), Blazer Brass, Federal, and Freedom (New and Reman)....not a single non-ignition with multiple strings of just firing the DA trigger.
